Brunswick Cabbage seeds is a very popular heirloom variety dating back to 1924 where it was first introduced in Germany. This cabbage variety is a good old favourite among home gardeners and it has been grown ever since. You can grow cabbage heads that weigh on average between 6-9 pounds. Brunswick Cabbage is also very cold hardy and stores very well. Excellent for making soups, stews, sauerkraut, coleslaw and delicious cabbage rolls. Ready to harvest in 90 days.

Brunswick Cabbage Seeds - Growing Cabbage From Seeds

SOWING:

Start cabbage seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before your last frost. Plant seeds 1/4" deep in individual pots or seed trays. The first crop of cabbage should be mature before the heat of summer so plant the seedlings about 4 weeks before the last expected frost. Plant seedlings 12"-18" apart with a spacing of 36" between rows burying the stems half way up. For a fall crop direct sow or transplant seedlings in midsummer.

If hard frosts are expected cover young seedlings. Apply mulch to regulate soil temperature, conserve moisture and control weeds.

HARVESTING:

Harvest cabbage when feels firm and reaches a good size. Smaller cabbages tend to be more tender, while large cabbage heads from fall store very well over the winter.
