There are so many ways you can use and enjoy this wonderful Chinese vegetable.Germination:
Prepare the soil with compost or organic matter as Canton Pak Choi benefits greatly from this. The ideal temperature for growing Chinese Cabbage is 45-75 F (7-24 C) and grows best when it’s in this range. Plant your seeds once your able to work the soil come spring. The seeds should be placed ¼” deep and about 12” apart. If your planting these in rows ake sure you leave at least 12” between your rows. In about 10 days germination should take place.
Growing:
When growing Canton Pok Choi Chinese Cabbage (Bok Choy) you should add a layer of mulch around your plants. This will help keep the soil moist, reduce weeds and helps keep the soil a little cooler to help prevent the Chinese Cabbage from bolting or going to seed. When it’s hot this can happen, mulching can help and also a shade cloth if you’re having a long stretch of extreme heat.
Harvesting:
You can begin to harvest as early as 28 days for tender baby leafs or wait for fully mature Bok Choy at 50-60 days. Bok Choy is like lettuce you can harvest the entire plant or harvest a few leaves at a time when needed.
